Compassionate Touch
I do a variety of Yoga techniques with children and we also do another compassionate touch with a spine walk.
Teach children the Yoga pose called child pose – laying face down like a small egg – Knees folded and upper torso folded over knees
Once they learn Child’s pose, then I will ask permission to connect the spine by doing a spine walk from the bottom of the spine to the skull. Teaching children that this is there power cord and that the tail and head are actually connected. As I trace the spine, I teach them to be respectful of each others bodies by holding the shirt down with one hand and not touching the others back skin.
Once they have had experiences with Spine Walks, I will assign a Spine Buddy and they will walk up each others spines with a gentle, respectful compassionate touch. THEY LOVE THIS! Especially the ones that are not grounded~
