Respect for Others
Objective: To help children discover ways to respect others
Focus: Target positive ways to show respect
Activity: Play a game of “Most Respect”. Divide the class into two teams. Flip a coin to see which team goes first. The first person must tell a way to show respect for others, such as saying thank you, excuse me, please, etc. The teams get points for coming up with different ways of showing respect. Put a time limit of about 10 minutes on the game and then explain that everyone WON because they all learned ways to show respect.
List the ways of showing respect on the board for the day. When you see or hear a child showing respect put a check by that way. At the end of the day you will be able to see which way your class shows the most respect. Ask the children to see if they can beat their score the next day.
Thought for the day: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!
