The Colors of Life
My skin is dark
And yours is light,
Jose’s in-between
Your day and my night.
But, lo and behold,
When we each scrape a knee
The blood’s the same red
For all kids to see.
Two legs, two arms,
Two ears, and a nose,
If we stand at attention,
We’ll strike the same pose.
We’re so much alike,
Jose, you, and I,
That I bet we all like
Mom’s spiced apple pie.
“Brothers?” you ask,
I nod to agree,
We’re really all part
Of the same family.
