What Me Worry?
I remember as a high school student wearing a shirt that said What Me Worry? The shirt had a picture of Alfred E. Newman the character that often showed up on the cover of Mad Magazine. Even though we are not wearing the shirt these days we could use a little bit of the psychology. So much of what we worry about has taken the place of what we have come to experience as a result of our faith and overcoming obstacles in our life. We often worry because our faith is weak. Faith includes the evidence we have accumulated over the years that there is more to look forward to than to doubt in our lives. If you spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about something, fretting, or maybe even being irritable to those around you over something that never occurred you may want to remember this fact.
90 percent of what we worry about never happens. Calvin Coolidge said, “If you see ten troubles coming down the road, you can be sure that nine will run into the ditch before they reach you.”
Many people spend huge amounts of money on excess insurance policies of all kinds, just because they are worried about what, “might happen”. Replace your worry with faith that your family, your friends, and God will be with you through life s circumstances and challenges.
“Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties TODAY of its strength.”
