Steps in Living an Ethical Lifestyle

in Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, Primary Schools, Secondary Schools / by Gene Bedley
March 7, 2013

How do you avoid ethical shortcuts and moral dilemmas that threaten your constants and beliefs?

1- Decide ahead of time what your response will be when confronted with various situations.

2- Reveal your conviction and beliefs to those closest to you and ask them to hold you accountable.

3- Decide how you want to live in a community. Develop ethical processes prior to problems arising and stick to the principles that support ethical decision making.

4- Write down your 3 greatest dreams. Reconcile them to make sure they are more than just a self-serving ambition.

5- Always consider the long-range implications and effect on others as well as your family and self.

6- Picture your best friends standing beside the person you are talking with. Would you say the same thing if they were standing there listening to your comments?

If you can anticipate what might happen you are better able to make ethical decisions when you are confronted with decisions.
