A Wise Child
Sometimes very little folk
Have insights all their own.
And sometimes they are more profound
Than when they are full grown.
One day, as I spoke about
A friend whose will was strong
And how he’s very certain
He never can be wrong.
My little one just listened
With pensive concentration
And wistfully did answer
With the following observation.
“What a pity, Mother dear,”
She said with grave concern,
“If your friend is never wrong,
How then can he learn?”
