Ethical Communities for Students

Ethical Communities Include:

A community that establishes a mission/purpose where all members subscribe to ethical principles. (Code of ethics)

A community that identifies a set of core ethical virtues that contribute the most to ethical decision makers. (Values that last or lasting values)

A community that recognizes that personal responsibility is the foundation for all other moral development. (Independent -self manager skills)

A community that includes ethical forums and ethical dilemmas that invite full participation from all its members. (Making moral decisions)

A community where adult role models, while not perfect, are emulated. (Models and mentors)

A community where respectful social skills are taught and practiced by the entire community.

A community where accountability and responsibility partners monitor steps in developing personal responsibility. (Courtesy challenges)

A community where heart training becomes an integral part of the learning expectations. (Promoting leading with empathy)

A community where a climate of perseverance and positive attitudes are promoted as the tools to transcend the obstacles of life. (Energy s major contributors)

A community where all adults connected to the students are an integral part of the training and support system developed. (Parents, teachers and staff are included in orientation and ongoing lessons.)

A community where restraint and patience are promoted and modeled. (Mastery of moods)

A community where love is recognized as the major motivator and the virtue that magnifies all the other values.
