Keeping Runners in Line
At a recent seminar in Ohio, I was asked what to do if you have several children who run rather than stay in the line. Having had several boys in my classes run out of a line rather than stay with the class I found that by using a rope with several cross ropes tied to one long rope (similar to a rope ladder) it helped the kids remember the line procedure as well as their place in the line. It’s like everyone had their special place on the rope to hang on to and walk behind a rope line leader with the teacher following from the back of the rope. I observed a preschool teacher with about 25 kids literally pull her class through a busy city street crosswalk with minimal problems.
