Role Playing

I have been afforded the opportunity to begin writing for this website by a good friend who knows how much I love to write and is aware that my roommates are tiring of the 500-word editorials I slide under their doors on why they should buy more toilet paper when it’s gone. As excited as I am to be writing again, I am equally petrified because of the audience this and future articles will be geared to.

When I was the chair of our editorial board in college, my advisor emphasized, then reemphasized, then scribbled on our foreheads that the one thing capable of single-handedly killing an otherwise strong editorial is preaching. That and writing about the mating habits of gnats. But mostly preaching.

It is for this reason I am nervous. I am 22-years old and writing articles to an audience of people who taught me to read, write, and to a very limited degree, add and subtract (valiant effort
