Sexual Harassment Policy

in Middle Schools, Secondary Schools / by Gene Bedley
March 5, 2013

(Note. Minor editing changes are included )

Advantages — This policy will reduce and eliminate a lot of teasing and

touching presently existing in schools. School officials and teaching staff

will be responsible for carrying out this policy.

Disadvantages- Students may not always be trustworthy when reporting sexual

harassment and may get innocent students in trouble.

Class Opinion We feel that our policy does not violate the right of a person

beliefs. Like government, we are not to say someone believes about a

situation. Since our topic is about sexual harassment then the person should

be punished for dirty talk, writing, or other means. If a person sexually

harasses someone, it is not considered his/her freedom of speech Our policy

gives an equal chance to first time offenders, but if the problem becomes more

serious, the correct measures will be taken! It does not violate the privacy

of a person home at all. In extreme cases of sexual harassment the offender

will be taken to court. Our proposed policy simply says that if a person

breaks the rules then the person will be punished. It has nothing to do with

race , religion, age etc.

The Branches of Government that would be responsible for our proposed Policy

1. To put our policy into effect, we will first have to try to enforce this

policy in our school. To do this our class will have to take our policy to our administration.

2. If our policy is approved by the administration, we plan to take it to the

school board to have our policy considered for implementation as a district

wide policy

3. If we want to enforce our proposed policy throughout the country or state,

we would have to go to our governor or our state legislators.

These branches of government would be responsible for carrying out our policy

because the government is there to make our state a better place.

1. Verbal Harassment or abuse
