Showing Respect When You Make a Mistake!

in Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, Secondary Schools / by Gene Bedley
December 1, 1998

Everyone makes mistakes. We all have to deal with criticism from

time to time. For example, teachers will have to correct your

mistakes on tests and reports in school. Parents will make suggestions

on how to get along with others etc.

Being able to accept criticism shows that you are willing to learn from your mistakes.

When you can accept criticism calmly, people are going to be more likely to

affirm you when you do a good job. They will see that you are a person who

doesn’t get angry over mistakes. This will help you get along better with others.

Step 1- Look at the persons eyes.

By looking at the persons eyes it shows you are paying attention!

Step 2- Say “I’ll work on it!”

By saying this shows it shows the other person you’re willing to try!

Step 3 – “I’ll start by”

letting the person know you’re first step will insure you mean business!

Memorize these thoughts!

There really are not mistakes in Life only Lessons!

The Higher I set My goals the more Mistakes I will Make.

Being able to accept criticism shows that you are willing to learn from your mistakes.

It’s not what happens in my life that matters it’s how I respond to what happens!
