Children's Traffic Light
Traffic Light Classroom Management for Preschoolers
Self Evaluation for Pre-schoolers
Jenni’s Pre School
Stop light pattern – 1 per child
red, yellow, and green circles – 1 set per child
Procedure
Hang the stop lights low enough on a bulletin board or wall so they are accessible to the children.
Every child should start his or her day with a green light. When a child falters in his/her behavior GO TO the child and DISCUSS quietly the action. Ask the child what color light he/she thinks is deserved. Allow the child to CHANGE THEIR OWN LIGHT.
Note: This method of discipline really helps kids evaluate their actions! By allowing children to make changes on their own they have more of an understanding that what they do they do!
