Five Minute Vacation!
It was many years ago I was introduced to a book on gathering unobtrusive non-reactive data from the clients you serve as well as doing research on promising practices. When kids say I don’t care they are really exploring to see if anyone in their life cares. The book has some great information on becoming a skillful observer to see what really motivates people. I decided I would launch a new program in my classroom where I could simply watch children to see how they solved problems, made decisions and built relationships. In order to achieve this it became apparent I needed to set aside a block of time during my day to simply observe the children at work and play. I call it my 5 minute vacation. I try to take one every day!
Activities I doing during my 5 minute vacation are…
Puppet Shows
