Principal Martha Knudsen of Anderson Elementary school , Lee Christian

Principal of Ponderosa elementary school and Renee Coleman Principal of

Thompson Elementary are some of the more recent Texas schools to join the

Values in Action! Network . (currently over 3000 us schools in the US) Their

schools participated in an all day seminar on Responsibility Management.

Teachers learned to establish a Better Choice Programs, WBR Program, Self

Management skills, and develop Solution Centers for their classrooms. The

seminar included a focus on putting the pencils in kids hand to come up with

a plan on how to improve personal responsibility, evaluating daily responsibility

and developing plans to put into their under construction

folders. Michelle Cottle a teacher from Anderson School was cited for her

outstanding leadership in promoting ethics and ethical decision making with

her students.

Gene Bedley, seminar leader, commented on the outstanding and inspirational

leadership of each of the principals as well their assistant principals

provided for their respective schools. “As the National Educator of the Year

I have the great honor of traveling to several hundred schools. You have some

of the finest most dedicated staff I have met. To witness so many teachers to

be willing to give up their Saturdays to improve their students is noteworthy

and the exception.”
