The Morally Mature Person
What kind of human being do we want to emerge from our efforts at moral
education? What are the characteristics of the morally mature person?
A moment’s reflection tells us that moral maturity is more than just knowing
what is right. The world is full of people who know what is right but set
moral consideratlons aside when they find it expedient to do so. To be moral
means to value morality, to take moral obligations seriously. It means to be
able to judge what
is right but also to care deeply about doing it
