10 Tips for Parents of Teens
1.Write to them and look at them face to
face and let your teen know you love
them. Don’t use the withholding of your
love as a method of discipline.
2. Be an attentive listener.
3. Catch your teen being responsible once a day.
4. Develop new influence styles in correcting
and maintaining behavior.
5.Train your teen to be responsible. Give
kids incremental choices and provide
guidance rather than criticism.
6. Accept and channel social experiences.
Create new opportunities for positive
social interaction.
7. Teens are typically two years ahead of
where their parents think they are.
Speak frankly and disclose a healthy
attitude. They are not as embarrassed
as you are.
8. A logical consequence should happen.
Refrain from passing judgment.
9. Allow kids to make unwise choices occas-
sionally, and make sure they are aware
of consequences and are willing to live
with them.
10. Create the opportunity to study. Arrange
a regular study period for all family members.
A fixed starting and ending time, free from distractions!
